HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Speedway honored the heritage of local stock car racing Friday with its annual “old timers” reunion.
The vintage car drivers made a stop at the Speedway as a special feature for Friday’s regular racing show. Zack Simmons claimed the win in the vintage division feature followed by Jack Simmons, Jason Jackson, Keith Simmons and B.J. Paige.
With two weeks to go until the Speedway’s mid-season championships, the racing at the local dirt track is as hot as the June weather.
Brian Bolin powered his way to the victory in the USRA modified feature race but not without challenges. Jesse Folk Jr. finally found the set-up for his car and pushed Bolin throughout the race. Folk ended up second.
John Allen came across the line in third place with Justin Folk in fourth. Scott Daniels rounded out the top five finishers in the modifieds.
For the first time in a long time, a “bounty” has been posted at the Speedway. Jeremy Wilson has dominated the factory stock division at Humboldt this season, winning again Friday. Speedway promoter Ron Whitworth has placed a $100 bounty for anyone who can beat Wilson.
Tim Phillips made a bid for the “bounty” Friday night but finished second. Billy Shadden ran third followed by Dale Price and Brandon Weide.
The B-Mod feature race was won by Tim VanGotten and Dalton Kirk crossed the line in second place. Jeremy Chambers came from last in the field to finish third. Riley Whitworth placed fourth and Jimmie Davis was fifth.
Jeremy Willard captured another feature race victory in the pure stock division. David Matlock finished in the runner-up spot. Brandon Rowland took third followed by Norman Mackley in fourth and Toby Eble in fifth.
This weekend’s regular show at Humboldt Speedway will feature an appearance by the OCRS 360 Winged Sprint cars.
