ARMA — Uniontown High’s Eagles and host Northeast High’s Vikings were knotted at 4-all after four innings of baseball on Tuesday.
But the Vikings scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run home run, and beat the Eagles 12-7.
Head coach Chris Woods said there were a couple of calls that did not go Uniontown’s way in a game “the Eagles fought hard” in.
The second game of the Three Rivers League doubleheader was halted after three complete innings. It was tied 2-2 when a thunderstorm moved into the area.
Ty Clayton had a 5-for-5 night for the Eagles. He hit two home runs, a double and a single in the opener. He doubled in his only at-bat in the second game.
Max Labbe had a solo home run in the second game. Garrett Murrow hit a triple and a single on the night.
Jake Dawson, the losing pitcher in the first game, had two singles in that contest. Jordan Woods, Cameron Jackson, Mitch Newman and Chase Gleason each hit singles in the first game.
Woods and Tyler Hall pitched in relief in the opener. Woods was on the mound for the Eagles in the second game.
Uniontown hosts Al-toona-Midway today and goes to Mound City to play Jayhawk-Linn Friday.
The Eagles host St. Paul Monday.
