RICHMOND — A little distance was all Central Heights’ boys needed Tuesday night.
The Vikings took full advantage of a lull in Crest High’s offensive performance, turning a one-point lead after one period into a 14-point advantage by halftime.
Things went downhill from there for the Lancers, who dropped a 51-26 decision. The Lancers enter the Christmas break at 4-2. They will not play for another 24 days, when they travel to Marmaton Valley.
“We played very good for a quarter and a half, but we lost our composure a bit and started missing shots,” Lancer head coach Travis Hermreck said. “Central Heights is good, and when they get the advantage, they go for the jugular.”
The Vikings sealed the victory with a 15-2 run that spanned the third quarter to lead 46-19.
Luke Decker scored eight points and Kyle Hammond had seven to lead Crest. Dakota Ramsey pulled down nine rebounds.
Sam Leach scored 13 and Jordan Horstick 11 to pace Central Heights.
Central Heights High’s girls rolled over Crest High’s Lady Lancers 56-6 Tuesday. No report on the game was received by the Register.
