Uniontown’s Wilkinson qualifies for state meet

Sophomore Kelli Wilkinson became the first Uniontown High athlete to qualify for a state cross country meet. This is the first year Uniontown has had a cross country program.
Wilkinson finished 14th at the Kansas Class 2A Regional Cross Country meet at Mound City Saturday. She ran the 4K course at Sugar Valley Golf Club in 18 minutes, 47 seconds.
 The Register found her qualifying through the  Kansas State High School Activities Association website.
Wilkinson will run at noon Saturday in the Kansas Class 2A State Cross Country meet in Wamego.
In the 2A boys’ race, Uniontown’s Jonathan Wheeler placed 25th, running the 5K distance in 20:29.84. Dakota Henderson was 29th in 21:23.50 and Alex Bradbury finished 31st in 21:41.10
The Register also found results of the Kansas Class 3A Regional Cross Country meet at Burlington involving Humboldt High’s cross country runners.
No HHS runner advanced to state.
The races were at John Redmond Reservoir Saturday. In the girls’ 4K race, junior Kristin Todd finished 53rd in 22:16.
Humboldt’s boys were led by junior Nick Keazer placing 41st in the boys’ 5K race in 20:29. Sophomore Michael Davis was 49th in 20:55 followed by senior Kendall West in 58th in 21:55.
Juniors Dylan Greve and Kile Martin were 63rd and 67th, respectively, in 22:23 and 22:57. Sophomore Jimmy Mangold was 76th in 32:36. Humboldt was 10th as a team.
