Uniontown baseball team splits with Oswego

BRONSON — It was the best of times and the worst of times Monday for Uniontown High’s Eagles.
The Eagle baseball team hosted Oswego High in Three Rivers League play at Dawson Field in Bronson. The Eagles shutout the Indians, 7-0, in the first game.
Uniontown held a 2-1 lead through four innings of the second game. The Indians scored 17 runs in the fifth to win their first game of the season, 18-4.
Uniontown had a home run derby in the first game. Tyler Hall hit two two-run home runs in back-to-back at-bats. The first one came in the first inning then in the second inning Hall’s home run put the Eagles up 5-0.
Ty Clayton cranked out a solo shot in the fifth that gave his team a 7-0 lead. Clayton also had a double in the game. Max Labbe, Jordan Woods and Garrett Murrow each had a single.
Jake Dawson went the distance on the mound for the Eagles. He allowed three hits, walked one and hit one batter. He struck out seven.
Uniontown had eight errors in the second game behind the pitching of Woods, Hall and Dawson. Woods started and took the loss, allowing three hits. He struck out seven.
At the plate, Murrow delivered a triple and a single  while Labbe hit a double and a single. Anthony Myers tripled. Woods, Cameron Jackson and Mitchell Newman each had a single.
