HUMBOLDT — Not even a mandortory technical inspection could beat Tyler Kidwell at last week’s Humboldt Speedway action.
Kidwell won his third feature race in a row — fifth out of six races this season — in the pure stock division. In all but the USRA modified division, a third consecutive feature win puts a driver’s car in “teardown” mode.
Kidwell’s engine was torn down and passed the test just like he had passed cars on the track. Jeremy Willard ran second followed by Derek Michale, Levi Phillips and Mike Churning.
Jimmie Davis powered to a USRA B-Mod feature victory as he held off Trevor Hunt, another “kid” on the track. Behind Hunt came Jack Simmons in third, Jeremy Wilson in fourth and Jeremy Chambers in fifth.
Scott Stuart went to the front and stayed there for a wire-to-wire win in factory stock. Derrek Wilson came across in second place.
Todd Kidwell claimed the third-place spot in the factory feature. Ethan Lamons ran fourth and Patrick Kay rounded out the top five.
Johnny Bone, Jr., returned to Humboldt Speedway since running in March’s King of America races. Starting in the fifth-row outside position, Bone drove through the field and won last Friday night’s USRA modified race.
John Allen was the runner-up in the event followed by Scott Daniels. Justin Folk ran fourth and Jessy Willard was fifth.
As a way of congratulating all area graduates of 2012, all those who bring a copy of their recent diploma to the speedway will be admitted this Friday at the Speedway.
It will also be kid’s night, when those 12 and under can bring their bicycles and race.
