On Wednesday, football coaches across the Three Rivers League announced their preseason picks for both the eight and 11-man divisions of their league.
TRL eight-man defending champion team St. Paul was picked to repeat for the crown with Marmaton Valley following behind in second.
The Wildcats head into the 2018 season after finishing 2017 with a 6-3 record including a 3-2 district record. Marmaton Valley did not advance on to the playoffs.
Colony-Crest checked in at fourth in the poll. 2018 will be the second year for the Lancers under head coach Brandt Miller. Crest went 4-5 overall last season including a 3-3 district record.
In the 11-man division, Jayhawk Linn was the unanimous number one pick after winning their district and the league last season.
Yates Center checked in at fourth heading into their second year under head coach Ryan Panko. Former co-head coach Tanner Davis departed at the end of the school year.
The Wildcats turned a rough season into a gem after finishing 3-7 overall but clinching their first district championship in some time. The Wildcats look to continue to grow through as they lose just four seniors from last season.
The 2018 football season begins with the first day of practice on Monday with the first game of the season coming a couple weeks later on August 31. Yates Center will open the season at home versus Jayhawk-Linn, Marmaton Valley will host West Elk and Crest will travel to Hartford.
