HUMBOLDT — An 8-1 record in Tri-Valley League play warranted postseason honors for two Humboldt High standouts.
Senior Sheri Middleton was named all-league for the third time, while junior Breanna Kline earned all-league honors after receiving honorable mention her sophomore year.
Middleton’s storied season ended with a school record 258 kills and 81 blocks. She tied another school mark with 13 kills in one match, against Southern Coffey County. Middleton ended her four-year run with a school record 606 kills since her freshman year.
She served at a 93 percent clip and had 31 aces and 23 digs.
She also holds the HHS career and single-season records for blocks with 343 and 159.
Kline led Humboldt in digs with 35 and was second on the team in kills with 169. She also had 39 aces, 14 blocks and served at an 84 percent rate.
Humboldt finished second in TVL play behind Burlington, which wound up third in the Class 4A, Division II state tournament.
Yates Center’s Mindi Holloway also received honorable mention. A senior, Holloway racked up 106 kills to go with 135 gids, 20 aces and four blocks.
The Wildcats went 2-6 in Tri-Valley League in 2013.
