September is never too late to start your New Year’s resolutions. Or, maybe you are a fitness fanatic looking for a new way to get the blood pumping.

Well, luckily enough, the Iola Recreation Department is hosting Transform LIVE Tuesdays and Thursdays at at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Dr. John Silas North Community Center starting Sept. 10. The fee for the class is $30, or you can try out one class for $5.

Sarah Noah and Megan Cole will be leading this unique group session utilizing a step with a combination of cardio and bodyweight strength-training exercises. Noah began with the Iola Recreation Department in 2014 teaching PiYo.

Cole has years of experience with Beach Body workouts, and is excited to be leading a class. Noah will be leading the morning session, and Cole the evening.

Assistant Recreation Director Ryan Latta is ready to see this transformative form of fitness take place in Iola.

“We wanted to start up something new in downtown after the gym being flooded since October,” Latta said. “I know that Sarah has a following, and people have been reaching out to us wanting her back. Also, we are excited to have Sarah come on for her first time.”

Transform LIVE is full body conditioning, and is condensed into a 30-minute session. Even if your fitness level is not elite, the workout is flexible fit the pace you feel suits best.

“It’s challenging, but you make it how challenging you want to make it for yourself,” Noah said. “If I was brand new, I would come in and not use the step for starters. You don’t have to keep up with the beat even though it is musically driven. In other class formats, you’ll have to do choreography and stay on beat, but with Transform LIVE, you don’t have to.”

The workout does involve some coordination, but Cole and Noah’s job is to make the workout look simple and fluid. So if you are nervous of not being up to par yet, don’t worry one bit.

“I remember the first time I did the six week course at home, and I struggled,” Cole said. “But don’t worry because next week the moves get easier and it becomes muscle memory.”

Noah and Cole recommend to those that attend to bring a towel and hydration fluid. Transform LIVE is brand new to Iola, and it surely will find a way to transform your fitness.
