Nobody said it would be easy. If Humboldt High is to secure its first-ever football state championship, the Cubs face a wall of competition.
Of the eight teams in the Class 2A state playoffs, four are undefeated, including defending state champion Nemaha Central.
The remaining four, including Humboldt, are 9-1.
Humboldt is at Sabetha at 7 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals. The Register will be there to cover the action.
The state champion will be crowned Nov. 25 in Salina.
