LeROY—A 55-34 rout over Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats gave Southern Coffey County High’s Titans its first win of the season.

But the victory didn’t come easy for the Titans as they found themselves in familiar territory — trailing early. The Wildcats won the first period battle 12-10.

“We played well early,” said Denny Lasley, Marmaton Valley head coach.

From the second periods on it was a whole new ballgame for Southern Coffey County. The Titans put up 15 points in each of the final three periods while the Wildcat offense struggled to get into double digits.

“We came out in the second half flat,” Lasley said. “Southern Coffey County is a real physical team so maybe that will prepare us for our league games next week.”

The Titans outscored the Wildcats 45-24 in the final 24 minutes of play.

Leading all players were Southern Coffey County’s Aaron True with 20 points and Scott Fischer with 19. The Wildcats were led by Zach Louk with nine points.
