Southern Coffey County High is hosting a 2011 Kansas Class 1A Division I Substate Basketball Tournament in Iola next week. The tournament is at Allen County Community College.
Ople High’s boys (13-6) and girls (19-0) are top seeds in the tournament. They received first-round byes.
In the boys’ division, Crest High’s Lancers are seeded No. 2 at 13-6 and have a bye. They await the winner of No. 3 St. Paul (12-7) and No. 6 Pleasanton (2-18).
Southern Coffey County High’s Titans (10-9) host Hartford (5-14) Tuesday as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeded teams. The winner takes on Olpe in the semifinals.
The boys’ semifinals are Friday at ACCC. The championship game is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at ACCC.
St. Paul (17-3) is the No. 2 seeded team in the girls’ division, and received a bye. Southern Coffey County’s Lady Titans (10-9) are third seeded and host No. 6 Crest High’s Lady Lancers at 7 p.m. Monday at Le Roy.
The winner plays St. Paul on Thursday at ACCC. Pleasanton (10-10) is seeded No. 4 with Hartford (5-14) at No. 5. The winner of that game plays Olpe Thursday.
The girls’ championship game is at 6 p.m. Saturday in the ACCC gym.
For substate tournament games, admission prices are set by Kansas State High School Activities Association.
No school or league passes are honored at home or at ACCC, which is hosting the semifinals and finals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Admission prices for first-round games are $5 for adults and $4 for children (K-12).
Prekindergarten age children are admitted free.
For semifinals and championship games at ACCC, admission prices are $6 for adults and $5 for children (K-12).
