LA CYGNE — Iola High’s Jesse Taylor and Japheth Rutoh brought home some gold Thursday.
Both won individual league championships at the Pioneer League Track Meet, hosted by Prairie View High School.
Taylor won the 3200-meter run, completing the jaunt in 10 minutes, 59.94 seconds, while Rutoh cleared 5 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump.
But they were hardly the only standouts.
Brett Willis was dazzling in taking second in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes and third in both the 400-meter dash and the long jump.
Kaster Trabuc notched a second in the 800 and a pair of third-place finishes in the 1600 and 3200.
Cole Moyer was just behind Taylor to place second in the 3200, Eli Adams took silver in the 400 and bronze in the 800.
On the girls’ side, Karingten Hall took second in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Ally Ellis nabbed silver in the javelin.
The Mustang athletes now set their sights on a potential state track bid, with qualifying set for Friday at the Class 4A Regional Meet in Chanute.
