Stevenson leads the way for Wildcat thinclads

OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley High’s Brady Newman and Chance Stevenson brought home gold medals Tuesday at the Oswego Invitational Track Meet.
Stevenson won the 110-meter high hurdles in 18.6 seconds and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at 46.35 seconds. Stevenson also was third in the triple jump, leaping 37’10”, and in the long jump at 18’7”. Newman won the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 11 inches.
The boys team placed fourth.
“It was a very good showing for our first meet of the season. It was very windy, and they pushed through it,” said head coach Russell Plaschka. “We had a lot of good performances that didn’t place, athletes who didn’t give up. They left it all on the track.”
Trent Johnson took second in javelin at 118 feet, followed by Wyatt Bollinger in third at 113’11” and Newman in fourth at 108’4”. Bollinger finished fifth in the 300 hurdles at 52.5 seconds.
On the girls side, Misty Storrer took third in the triple jump at 39’8 3/8” followed by Kyla Drake in fourth at 29’2”.
Storrer took fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 12.48 seconds.
