WICHITA — Students with the ANW Special Education Cooperative were in Wichita Friday through Sunday to participate in the Kansas Special Olympics state track meet.
Local competitors were:
Bo Bland, Iola, third in the 100-meter run and first in the softball throw; Judy Branstetter, Iola, sixth in the 100 meters and first in the running long jump; Jonathan Cress, Iola, fourth in the 50-meter dash and third in the tennis ball throw; Katlin Cress, Iola, fifth in the 50 meters and fourth in the tennis ball throw; Leiberanne Moore, fourth in the 100 meters and first in the softball throw; Tyler Streeter, Gas, fourth in the 100 meters and first in the standing long jump; Christopher White, Iola, fourth in the 50 meters and first in the tennis ball throw; and Derek White, Iola, third in the 100 meters and fifth in the running long jump.
Bland, Moore, White and Streeter took third in a relay race.
Allen County Special Olympics members also participated. They were:
Casey Riebel, LaHarpe, second in the softball throw and seventh in the 100 meters; and Steven Riebel, LaHarpe, second in the softball throw and third in the 25-meter assisted walk.
