LE ROY — Southern Coffey County High School’s volleyball team hosted a varsity and JV match against Marmaton Valley and St. Paul on Tuesday night.
Marmaton Valley’s varsity squad split its two games, defeating Southern Coffey County but losing to St. Paul.
In Marmaton Valley’s first game against St. Paul, the Wildcats competed closely with the Indians in their two-set loss (25-21, 25-18).
Misty Storrer recorded two kills and four points against St. Paul while Kyla Drake led all Wildcats with five kills on offense.
Mackenzie Tynon added three points, four kills as well as two blocks.
“Our game with St. Paul, I feel, is the best we have played as a team so far this season,” coach Terra Kegler said. “We just came up short.”
Against Southern Coffey County, Marmaton Valley won in straight sets although both were competitive (26-24, 25-18).
Tynon continued her strong night on the court by recording four points, four kills and one block.
The Wildcats JV team won both its games on Tuesday.
Marmaton Valley defeated St. Paul in two sets (15-4, 15-12) before beating Southern Coffey County in two sets as well (15-12, 15-4).
Emily Smart led all Wildcats on the JV side with 19 total points on the day while Paige Becker wasn’t too far behind with 12.
Magie Stevenson led the offense with six kills in both games. Patricia Outlan added four kills as well.
