The Southern Coffey County boys saw their season come to an end Wednesday afternoon in the opening round of the 1A-I State Tournament at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
The Titans fell 49-35 to St. John-Hudson.
Southern Coffey County finishes its season at 19-5.
Both the Titans and the Tigers came out of the first quarter even at 10 before St. John pushed its lead to 22-16 by the half.
SCC shot a lower percentage to start the second half but, thanks to one of the Titans’ two threes, came out ahead 14-12 in the third quarter, moving their deficit to four.
A 15-5 fourth quarter for the Tigers put the game out of reach and sent SCC packing.
Senior point guard Chonnor Ludolph went out strong in his finale in a Southern Coffey County uniform, scoring 20 points on 9-14 shooting. He also recorded three steals and two rebounds and a block.
Junior forward Dawson Leimkuhler scored 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and a block.
Senior Luke Gillis scored three points, junior Kolgan Ohl scored two points and recorded three blocks
The Titans graduate four seniors including Ludolph and Gillis. Returning will be Ohl and Leimkuhler, who both averaged pretty much double-digits throughout the season.
