Seventh-grade Ponies win championship

Iola Middle School’s Ponies won their division of the IMS Seventh Grade Pony Stampede Saturday.
The Ponies opened with a 39-20 win over Pittsburg then rallied to beat Parsons 44-34 in the championship game.
Against Pittsburg, Drew Faulhaber scored 12 points for Iola. Kaden Macha had nine points and eight rebounds. Isaiah Grover scored nine points.
Adam Peterson added four points. Alex Bauer had three and Drake Dieker had two points.
Macha fired in 14 points and had six rebounds in the Parsons game. Grover tallied 12 points and Faulhaber had eight points.
Shane Walden and Bauer had five points each.
“We got off to a slow start against Parsons but the boys did a good job of coming off of a timeout and getting back to work,” said Marty Taylor, IMS head coach.
Iola’s seventh-grade A-team  is 4-2.
The IMS seventh- and eighth-grade teams host Parsons Tuesday.
