BURLINGTON — Humboldt High’s Robbie Sellman continues to rack up lofty finishes on the golf course as the 2014 season nears its conclusion.

Sellman took home third place Monday at the Tri-Valley League Golf Tournament, with a score of 79, one stroke behind the winner, Cane Valley’s Troy Watson.

Sellman’s score was identical to Eureka’s Braden Larcom, but he was relegated to third due to a tie-breaker.

Meanwhile, Yates Center High’s Nick Schemper took 16th with a 90.

Others scoring for the two schools:

Yates Center’s Remi Wagner carded a 105, good for 27th, while Humboldt’s Ryan Huse finished 34th with a 129. Connor Roseberry of Humboldt was just behind at 134, good for 36th. Yates Center’s Cheyenne Gill finished 37th at 139. Eric Updegrove, Yates Center, shot a 155 to take 39th. Humboldt’s Colton Riebel finished 40th with a 156.

Burlington won the team title with a 338, six strokes better than Fredonia. Yates Center finished seventh at 489. Humboldt took eighth with a 497.

“The guys did pretty well,” Yates Center head coach Kevin Barnes said, noting rainy, windy weather was a factor from start to finish. “Nick brought his score down from the past couple of tournaments. Remi’s 105 is what he shot at a couple of other tournaments, and Cheyenne and Eric did better than I was expecting.”

Humboldt travels to Caney Valley next Monday to take part in the Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament. Yates Center will be at LaCross to partake in the Sand Greens Regional.
