Uniontown High and Yates Center High host Kansas Class 2-1A softball regional tournaments next week. Humboldt High plays host to a Kansas Class 2-1A baseball regional.
At Uniontown, Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan earned the No. 1 seed at 19-1. Uniontown High’s Eagles are No. 2 (11-3) and Jayhawk-Linn (12-7) is third seeded.
Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats (8-10) are seeded fourth and St. Paul (4-10) is fifth. The Wildcats play St. Paul at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Uniontown.
The other teams receive first-round byes. The semifinals are Wednesday followed by the championship game at Uniontown.
The winner of Monday’s game plays Pittsburg-Colgan at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Uniontown plays Jayhawk-Linn at 4:45 p.m. The title game is at 6:30 p.m.
In the Yates Center softball regional, Elk Valley got the top seed at 8-11. West Elks is No. 2 at 7-11 and Humboldt (6-11) was No. 3. They all get first-round byes.
Yates Center (6-12) is fourth-seeded and plays No. 5 Altoona-Midway (5-13) at 4:45 p.m. Monday. The winner plays Elk Valley at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Humboldt, which is three-time regional champion, plays Elk Valley at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The championship game is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
At Humboldt, Uniontown (5-9) was the top-seed in the baseball regional with Jayhawk-Linn (7-11) at No. 2 and Yates Center (6-13) No. 3. They got first-round byes.
Humboldt (4-13) is seeded No. 4 and plays Marmaton Valley (2-15), seeded fifth, at 6 p.m. Monday at Humboldt. The winner takes on Uniontown at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
In the other semifinal, Yates Center plays Jayhawk-Linn at 4:30 Wednesday. The championship game is 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The regional champions advance to the Kansas Class 2-1A State Baseball and Softball Tournaments, May 28-29, in Emporia.
