Allen Community College’s offensive production was almost non-existent at home Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Devil softball team only scored two runs in two games while giving up 27 runs. Highland Community College’s Scotties shut out the Red Devils 21-0 in five innings then posted a 6-2 victory.
The losses put Allen at 11-15 in NJCAA Region VI, Division II district play and 8-14 in Jayhawk Eastern Division play.
The Red Devils are 23-21 overall and play a non-conference pair at Cottey College today.
Highland had a 5-0 lead when it struck for 11 runs in the fourth against Allen in the opener. The Scotties added five more for the final margin.
Keelyn Bonar was the losing pitcher for ACC. She also had the only hit, a single in the fourth inning. Bonar pitched 3 1/3 innings and was charged with 10 runs on 13 hits and had one strikeout. Audra Nelson pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up 11 runs on nine hits and two walks. She struck out three.
The Scotties built a 6-0 lead in three innings of the second game. Allen came up with two runs in the fourth.
With one gone, Bonar drew a walk and Melissa Davidson went in to pinch run for her. Davidson would score on a passed ball. Maecy Charleston singled with one gone and scored on an error.
Alex Hill, Erin Schwant, Ashley Ribelin and Charleston each had a base hit. Hill was the losing pitcher for Allen giving up nine hits and striking out four.
