COLONY — Crest High’s Lady Lancers were in sticker shock Thursday night. They were shocked by the price it’s going to take to play winning basketball.
Throwing them into the initial shock were Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans. The Lady Titans cruised to a 45-12 win in the teams’ season opener.
“The girls played with good intensity, especially on the defensive end,” said Jeff True, SCCH head coach. “We have a bunch of things to work to get where we want.”
So do the Lady Lancers, who get right back on the court tonight. Crest goes to Mound City to play Jayhawk-Linn High.
Southern Coffey County hosts Madison in Lyon County League play Tuesday.
The Lady Titans were led by Kristin Stephens with 18 points, six rebounds and five steals. Sam Jacob added 11 points and had five steals.
Crest got eight points for Ashley Catt. Kurston Gilliland had five rebounds and two steals. Katrina Strickler had two steals.
Southern Coffey County won the junior varsity game 24-12. Miranda Alumbaugh and Misty Gilbert each had six points.
