BURLINGTON Marmaton Valley, Crest and Southern Coffey County all made their way to Burlington on Friday for the 1A regional track meet and each school left qualified for state in at least three events including a third-place finish for the Titan boys.
SCC continues to show that their strength is in their throwers and Friday was no different.
Senior Kolgan Ohl was one of two area athletes to qualify in all three throwing events starting with a first-place finish in the discus with a throw of 16204. He also won the javelin with a throw of 17409 and took third in the shot put (4507.5).
Senior Dawson Leimkuhler qualified in the shot put with a fourth-place throw just a couple of feet behind Ohls, 455.5.
Senior Jett Harvey placed third in the javelin with a throw of 15908 and junior Cooper Harred took third in the discus with a throw of 14408.
Sophomore Kyra Ohl took third in the discus with a throw of 10003 and senior Haven Harvey placed third in the javelin with a throw of 10806. Harvey missed out on first place by an inch.
The lone Titan qualifer who isnt a thrower is junior Jaden Pankey who took fourth in the high jump with a height of 510.
Marmaton Valley was led by junior Bailey Griffith who triple-qualified again this year.
Griffith won the triple jump with a distance of 3509.25 and placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.84.
Lastly, she took third in the long jump with a distance of 160.75.
Senior Gage Griffith also qualified in the triple jump in his first season of high school track with a jump of 42 feet.
The Lancers qualified three runners led by a third-place finish in the 3200 by freshman Ursula Billings with a time of 13:36.90.
Her older sister Elka placed fourth in the 800 (2:33.93) and senior Regan Godderz placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.56.
The Titans, Lady Lancers and Wildcats will compete in the early session Friday starting with the 3200 and girls javelin at 7:45 and 8 a.m., at Wichita State.
