The Register is on the lookout for our areas top athletes. Whether its on the court, field, course, track or otherwise, we want to honor the best that our area has to offer by naming two Allen County Area Athletes of the Month.
Each month, the Register (with your help) will nominate three male and female athletes who have performed in an exemplary fashion throughout the previous four weeks. Register readers will vote on who deserves the honor on our website.
The poll is currently live at www.iolaregister.com/athletes-month and will remain up until Thursday at midnight.
Well announce the winners the following Saturday in both our Weekender print edition and on our website.
This month, weve nominated Iola senior baseball player Derek Bycroft, Yates Center sophomore golfer Easton Reynolds, Humboldt senior track athlete Tucker Hurst, Iola junior track athlete Elysia Kunkler, Yates Center junior softball player Madelynn Collins and Iola senior softball player Mia Aronson.
If you have an area athlete that you think should be nominated, feel free to drop us a line at [email protected]. It could be a seven-year-old whos the Babe Ruth of t-ball or an 87-year-old whos pickleballs Serena Williams or anything beyond or in-between.
Be sure to include a paragraph or two on what theyve done in the past month that makes them worthy of nomination and a picture if you have it.
Later on in the month, the Register will run feature stories on each winning athlete.
