Red Devils win two matches

Allen County Community College’s sophomore Alli Jenicke and freshman Haley Mertens had double-doubles in Monday’s home match. The two outside hitters for the Red Devils each had double figures in kills and in defensive digs.
The Red Devils made it two-for-two in non-conference matches since Friday.
Allen County made fans at home happy Monday with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 win over Hesston College. It wasn’t a Jayhawk Conference match but it was a NJCAA Division II, Region VI one.
The Red Devils are tied with Fort Scott at 4-6 in region play and both have one more match to play.
“We got the job done Monday night now we have to focus on Coffeyville Wednesday. We want to win out to see how things play out in the region to get in the region tournament,” said Jessica Peters, ACCC head coach.
On Friday, the Red Devils went to Nevada, Mo., and notched a 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 win over Cottey College.
Allen County goes into its final match at home Wednesday with a 17-21 overall mark. The Red Devils are 3-6 in Jayhawk East play and host Coffeyville (5-4, 19-16).
It’s sophomore night. The match start time is 6:30 p.m.
In Monday’s home match, Jenicke delivered 13 kills and came up with 14 digs while Mertens had 14 kills and 10 digs. Jenicke also made three solo blocks at the net. Both players had one assisted block.
Jordyn Seichepine had one solo and four assisted blocks and six kills. Randi Billings had five assisted blocks and five kills. Autumn Douglas had one assisted block.
Jacqui Ortiz put up 26 set assists and Alisha Keith had 17 assists. Sabrina Stanley made 16 digs.
Against Cottey, Mertens put down 13 kills and Jenicke had nine. Makhala Giardina and Seichepine each had eight kills.
Ortiz had 22 set assists and Keith had 18. Stanley came up with 13 digs. Mertens, Jenicke, Billings and Ortiz each had one service ace.
