CONCORDIA — Allen County Community College’s Red Devils moved to second place in the Jayhawk Eastern Division after sweeping a doubleheader Monday.
The Red Devil softball team defeated host Cloud County Community College 4-0 and 9-3. Allen County finished up its road work of the regular season Monday.
The Red Devils play at home today against Labette Community College of Parsons. First pitch is 2 o’clock.
They are at home Saturday against Hesston for sophomore day. The games begin at 1 p.m.
Allen County is 21-5 in Jayhawk East play for second place in the standings. It is 23-5 in NJCAA Region VI, Division II play staying in third place.
Allen County is 36-18 overall.
Lenzie Boring pitched the first game against Cloud County. The freshman allowed five hits and struck out six in the shutout.
Allen County scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh. Kassie Summers had a single and a double for ACCC. Autumn Lamle hit two singles.
Hitting a single each were Amy Carr, Boring, Brandie Hutcheson and Kylie Taylor.
Sophomore pitcher Brianne Campbell limited Cloud County to six hits in the 9-3 win. She struck out three.
Allen County built a 9-0 lead before Cloud County scored three in the fifth inning. Jenna Sigg hit a three-run home run in a four-run second plus she had an RBI double in the fifth.
Shawna Blakesley hit three singles while Lamle, Kristina Popejoy and Denise Swanson each had two singles. Megan Dillow, Taylor and Kelci Owens each had a single.
