Two more games in before opening Jayhawk Eastern Division play is a good thing for Allen County Community College’s baseball team.
The Red Devils, who were 0-4, broke into the win column at home Thursday. They swept a non-conference doubleheader with Brown Mackie College.
One of those double-duty pitchers, sophomore Nick Fountain pitched a three-hitter in a 13-1, run-rule five-inning win. Fountain, who played in the outfield in the second game, walked two and struck out six.
The Red Devils scored seven runs in the first inning. Brayden Brumley went 3-for-3 in the game including a two-run home run and a two-run double in the first inning. He had another double.
Curtiss Bunch hit a solo home run in the third. The Red Devils led 9-0. Brown Mackie hit two doubles to score a run in the fourth which was countered by a four-run bottom half of the inning for ACCC.
Fountain, Riley Price and Michael Schell each had a double. Hitting a single each were Bryce Williams, Eric Seymour and Nathan Russell.
In the second game, the Red Devils used five pitchers but only gave up one run on one hit and one walk. Patrick Garner started and worked three innings, allowing the run on a walk and had seven strikeouts. The Red Devils won 6-1.
Zak Mickens, Tanner Wittman and Dylan Bowman each had an inning of work and no hits or runs. Mickens and Bowman each struck out three and Wittman had two strikeouts.  Brad Alberts gave up one hit, walked one and struck out three.
The Red Devils scored two runs in the second on a two-run home run by Fountain. In a 2-1 game, ACCC scored four more in the sixth.
Price and Williams each had two singles. Alberts doubled. Brumley, Travis Stafford and Miles Sanderson each singled.
