HESSTON — The road was kind to Allen Community College’s basketball teams Saturday.
The ACC men never trailed against their hosts from Hesston, rolling to a 79-63 victory. The Red Devil women, meanwhile, picked up their second consecutive win, 50-40.
Both squads return to action tonight against Ottawa University’s junior varsity squad. The women tip off at 6 o’clock, the men at 8.
The Allen men were tied at 2-2 and 4-4 against Hesston, but took the lead on the next possession and never looked back.
Tray Fountain highlighted two straight possessions with dunks as the Red Devils built a 43-29 lead at halftime.
Allen’s lead never dipped below double digits in the second half, and grew to as much as 19. All 15 players on the roster saw action, reaching scoring in double figures, and three others scoring at least eight.
Leading the way was Raheem Tyner, who scored 15 points to go with seven rebounds. Tyrone Jones followed with 11 points and six boards. Courtney Stockard also scored 11 points with five assists. Josh Sweet chipped in with nine points, while Fountain had eight points and three assists. Alex Keiswetter had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Cody Sluder had three steals, while Alex Miller, Stockard and Uno had two steals apiece.
Hesston’s Darrison Martin was a scoring machine, pouring in 32 points.

ALLEN’S women put on the defensive clamps after halftime, limiting Hesston to 12 points after the break.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils put three players in double figures, led by Nicole Salazar and Kylie Molisee with 12 points each. O’ceonna Weston followed with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Makayla Ladwig led Hesston with 10.
Both teams struggled from the field. Allen converted 20 of 50 field goals, 40 percent, but was an  ice-cold 8 of 24 from the free throw line. Hesston shot 23 percent from the field, 15 of 64, and hit only 2 of 17 3-pointers and 8 of 17 free throws.
