Bryan Couch winds up to pitch for Allen County Community College’s Red Devils. Couch and the Red Devils beat Kansas City, Kan., Community College 5-2 in a nine-inning contest Sunday.

Allen County Community College’s Red Devils won their fifth game in a row Sunday. Aaron Burke got his fifth save of the season. Ryan Fike hammered his fifth home run of the season.
The Red Devils didn’t play at Brown Mackie Saturday. Those games were a wash.
Saturday’s rain pushed back the start time of Sunday’s Jayhawk Eastern Division doubleheader a couple of hours. But when the Allen County and Kansas City, Kan., Community College hit Red Devil Field, the Red Devils took care of business.
The Red Devils won 6-1 behind the pitching of left-hander Matt Stalcup. Stalcup worked four innings, allowing one run on four hits, two walks and a hit batter. He struck out three.
John Michael Moore pitched two-thirds of an inning and walked two. Burke came on in relief to pitched the final 21⁄3 innings. He allowed four hits and two hit batters. Burke struck out three.
After Allen County took a 1-0 lead in the first, Fike hit a two-run home run with Michael Samuel aboard in the third. Two singles and two KCK errors allowed the Red Devils to plate two more runs in the fourth.
The Red Devils led 5-1 when Fike doubled in the fifth and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Marcus Peavler.
Fike, hitting .371 for the season, had the double and home run as he pushed his RBI total to 31. Connor McCrite doubled. Hitting  a single each were Brayden Brumley, Peavler, Wyatt Hall and Samuel.
Bryan Couch started in the ACCC bullpen this season. He is now in the starting rotation and picked up a win on the mound in a 5-2 victory Sunday. Couch pitched five scoreless innings against Kansas City.
Couch gave up one hit, walked three and hit two batters. He also struck out two. Cody Wren threw two innings and allowed two runs on two hits and a hit batter with two strikeouts.
Burke came on for two innings of scoreless pitching. He did not surrender a hit and struck out two.
Fike singled in the first inning and scored when Brad Alberts reached on an error. Alberts drew a walk in the fourth and scored on a double play ball hit by Curtiss Bunch in the fourth.
Kansas City scored a run in the sixth inning to make it 2-1. The Red Devils responded with three runs in their half of the inning.
Bunch had a single and a double. Fike, McCrite, Peavler, Michael Schell, Hall and Samuel each had a single.
With the sweep of the doubleheader, Allen County has won five games in a row. The Red Devils improved to 16-14 in Jayhawk East play moving to fourth and are 22-18 overall.
They have six more conference games to play and four are at home this week. Allen County hosts Labette at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Fort Scott returns Wednesday to pick up where the teams halted play Thursday — Greyhounds up 7-3 in top of fourth of first game — because of rain.
Allen County goes to Johnson County Saturday.
