Despite being the visitors on their home scoreboard Tuesday afternoon, Allen Community College’s Red Devils notched two “road” wins in Jayhawk Eastern Division softball action.

Allen was to have played at Fort Scott Community College Tuesday but Monday it was determined the Greyhounds’ field conditions were too poor for Tuesday’s contests. So the games were moved to Iola, with Fort Scott still the home team.

Freshman pitcher Keelyn Bonar held the Greyhounds to three hits in a 6-0 victory in the opener. Bonar walked three batters and struck out 12, three of those coming in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Allen had five doubles among its 10 hits in the game. Bonar doubled to lead off the second and scored on a double by Maecy Charleston. Charleston went to third on an error then stole home.

The Red Devils added a run to their 2-0 lead in the fifth. Erin Schwant doubled and scored on an RBI single by Ashley Ribelin. Another run came in the sixth when Taylor Easum doubled and Kaylee Lucas singles. They moved up a base on a passed ball and Alex Hill’s sacrifice fly plated the run.

In the seventh inning, Ribelin and Bonar walked and a passed ball put them in scoring position. Charleston drove in one run with a base hit and Lauren Poertner doubled in a run.

Ribelin had two singles while Bonar and Charleston each had a single and a double. Schwant, Poertner and Easum each had a double and Lucas singled.

Allen got off quickly in the second game with five runs in the first inning. The Red Devils pounded out 13 hits in the game.

Utilizing three walks and a hit batter, a Greyhound error and two singles, the Red Devils manufactured five runs in the first inning. Douglas and Kayla Van Vliet each had an RBI base hit in the frame.

Schwant was hit by a pitch again in the second inning, touching off a three-run surge by Allen. Bonar and Charleston delivered back-to-back RBI doubles and Douglas singled in  the third run.

Allen added two runs in the fifth to go up 10-0. Fort Scott scored its run in the bottom of the inning on an ACC error and a double.

Sophomore Alex Hill limited Fort Scott to a bunt single in the fourth inning. She got the win, pitching 3 1/3 innings. She walked one and struck out nine. Audra Nelson pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit and a walk.

Bonar was 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles and a double. Charleston, who was 3-for-4, with two singles and a double. Douglas hit two singles. Hitting a single apiece were Hill, Nelson, Ribelin, Jamee McEndree and Paige Rothwell.
