Alex Keiswetter and Diallo Wesley, Wichita South High seniors, wanted to play college basketball together.
New head coach Andy Shaw and Allen Community College made that possible. Shaw, who spent the past year as assistant for ACC and recently named head coach, signed the two Wichita South teammates to play basketball for the Red Devils next year.
“They really wanted to go somewhere to play together. Both will bring different types of skills sets to our team,” Shaw said.
“We’re excited to have them both coming here.”
Keiswetter is a 6-4 forward who averaged nine points and eight rebounds a game for the Titans this season. He was an honorable mention selection in the Greater Wichita Athletic League.
“Alex is a hard-nosed kind of kid who comes to work hard every day. We’re looking for him to give us depth at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots in the lineup,” Shaw said.
“He’s a strong student with a 3.8 grade point average. Alex and Diallo are the type of student-athletes you want in your program.”
Wesley is a 5-9 point guard. He was a GWAL first-team selection at the end of this season. Shaw said Wesley will work at point guard and the No. 2 guard spot.
“We’ll evaluate his skills set when he gets here. If he can handle the point at the college speed, that will be great,” Shaw said.
“Diallo is quick and gets a team into transition quickly. He has good mid-range as a shooter.”
