Red Devils open season with 3-1 series win over Southwestern

The Red Devil baseball team opened their season last Thursday and Friday and came away with three wins and a loss in a four-game series with Southwestern Community College.
Allen County lost game one 12-2, the game was six innings. 
Shortstop Baxter Mays had two hits and center fielder Kenny Allred and catcher Matt Phipps both scored a run. Starter Trace Embray earned the loss going one and a third innings, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks with a strikeout.
The Red Devils rebounded in game two, winning 11-9.
Third-baseman Nathan Best had three hits including a home run. He scored three runs in the win. Starter Jake Pease had a rough start, allowing four runs on a hit and three walks in the first before recording an out. Coleton Crisp earned the win, going pitching the fourth and fifth allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Closer Conner Darnell earned his first save of the season.
The Red Devils won the third game 11-1 in just five innings.
Left-fielder Justus Burke led the way with two hits and two RBIs in the game. Southwestern gave up 13 walks in the game.
Starter Reid Browning earned the win, going three innings with just one run scored on a hit and two walks with seven strikeouts.
The Red Devils closed things out with a 9-2 win.
Mays drove home three runs and third-baseman Josh Mann drove home two on two hits.
Starter Hector Abreu earned the win with three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Allen County with host Ottawa JV today for a doubleheader that was rescheduled from last week.
