Allen Community College sophomore second baseman Logan Martin drove in a run Thursday during a doubleheader against Coffeyville.

The Allen Red Devils will not have to wait long for a second shot at the Coffeyville Ravens after falling to their Jayhawk Conference rival in both games of Thursday’s double header.

After an early stoppage in the fifth inning due to an 11-0 deficit, the Red Devils seemed more competitive in the second game but ultimately came up short in a 7-6 loss.

Although shut out, center fielder Bjarne Reinhardt had a strong start to the day after a pair of hits in two at-bats.

Second baseman Logan Martin, third baseman Grayson Roberson and first baseman Nicky Moretto each picked up a hit. Pitcher Lincoln Upham took the loss after giving up six runs in four innings while tallying a strikeout.

The Red Devils held their own early with a three-run sixth inning and a pair of runs in the ninth, but their rally fell short as Coffeyville escaped the second game of the doubleheader with a 7-6 victory.

Allen Community College sophomore Saul Bolivar throws a strike while facing a Coffeyville batter in the fourth inning of Thursday’s doubleheader in Iola.

Following their weekend road games in Coffeyville, the Red Devils remain on the road in their Thursday return to the diamond when they face another Jayhawk Conference rival in Fort Scott. They host the Greyhounds for a doubleheader next weekend with pitch times scheduled for 1 and 4 p.m.
