In addition to having both teams qualify for the Region VI playoffs this year, Allen Community College’s soccer teams also brought home several postseason honors.
Seven players in all — four for the men, three for the women — were recognized by the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
The Red Devil men were led by George Georgiev, who was named to Jayhawk Conference second team.
Georgiev, sophomore defender from Mililani, Hawaii, tied for the team lead with four goals in 2013. He also had one game-winner for Allen, which wrapped up the season with an 8-7 record.
Three others, sophomore forward Bret Rex, midfielder Oscar Maruffo and defenders Ben – and Leo Martinez, earned honorable mention.
Rex, of Waipahu, Hawaii, also had four goals for the Red Devils, including a pair of game-winners for Allen. Marrufo, sophomore from Wichita, led Allen with 12 points on four goals and four assists. He also had a game-winner.
Loflin, sophomore from Andover, and Martinez, sophomore from Charleston, S.C., were mainstays for the Allen defense, which allowed fewer than two goals allowed per game (1.71). Loflin had a goal and three assists. Martinez had an assist.

ON THE women’s side, Allen’s Lexi Godlove rewrote the Red Devil record books. In so doing, she earned second team all-conference honors.
Godlove poured in 20 goals, including twice racking up four goals in a game in wins over Garden City and Neosho County.
Her eight assists gave her 48 points.
She also had four game-winning goals.
She was joined by freshman forward Kyleigh Rowe and freshman defender Carleigh Konrade, who earned honorable mention.
Rowe nearly equaled Godlove’s prolific output, with 14 goals and 10 assists, good for 38 points.
She also had four game-winners, including the first in a four-goal win over Cloud County Sept. 17. She followed up that contest with a one-goal, four-assist burst at Garden City.
Known more for her defense, Konrade a freshman defender, had one goal and one assist.
The Red Devil women went 9-9 on the season, advancing to the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
The squad, under first-year head coach Jeremy McGinnis, improved their win total from two to eight in one year. For comparison’s sake, the Red Devils scored only four goals as a team in 2012.
