Allen County soccer ended the regular season on Monday when they faced Coffeyville.
The men closed out their season with a 3-0 win, pushing their record to 4-11-1 on the season and 2-7-1 in conference play.
The Red Devils dominated the first half, outshooting and outplaying Coffeyville but not finding the back of the net as several one-on-ones went to waste as the game was still tied at zero headed into halftime.
Daniel Guardado scored the first goal for the Red Devils on an assist from Edgar Castanada to start off the second half. Five minutes later, a penalty kick for Allen and Sami Sabrah pushed their lead to 2-0.
With less than five minutes left in the game, Coffeyville gave the ball away right in front of their own goal and Missael Estrada was there to capitalize on their mistake to make the score 3-0.
The defense was rock solid as goalkeeper Alan Ibarra played all 90 minutes in goal and only had to record three saves.
“It was a great way to send off the sophomores and start in a positive direction for next year,” assistant coach Matt Abbott said.
Meanwhile, the Lady Devils ended their regular season with a 1-0 loss to Coffeyville. Allen allowed the only goal in the first half and had only three shots on goal in the match.
The Lady Devils are now 8-9 overall and 5-7 in conference play which was good enough to advance on to the Region VI tournament to take on Cloud County in Concordia on Saturday. This marks the fifth season in-a-row that the Lady Devils have advanced on to postseason play.
