HUTCHINSON — Competition at the 2010 NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet got under way Thursday in Hutchinson.
Today had more of the mens’ and women’s combined events, plus several individual field events. Most of preliminary running events are this afternoon at Gowans Stadium. The meet is hosted by Hutchinson Community College.
Allen County Community College has 13 athletes competing in jumping and running events. They are Keythra Richards, Angelica Larrier and Postenea Louisjeune on the women’s side. Competing for the ACCC men are Trent Huling, Isiah Young, DeAndrea Simmons, Kyran Stewart, Cameron Parker, Jarrett Criddle, Marwin Simmons, John Thurston, Kyrese Banks and Abraham Walker.
Louisjeune goes in with the second best jump in the high jump. Richards is ranked eighth in the triple jump.
Richards is 11th in the long jump and Louisjeune is 14.
Larrier is ranked seventh in the 100-meter dash.
Young and Stewart are ranked eighth and ninth in the 100-meter dash. Youth is ninth, Stewart 13th and D. Simmons 30th in the 200-meter dash rankings.
Those three combine with Huling as the fifth-fastest 4×100-meter relay team this season.
Parker is ranked sixth in the triple jump. Criddle is competing in the triple jump and long jump also. M. Simmons in in the long jump.
