Red Devil volleyball struggles

After going 1-3 over the weekend at the Highland Community College tournament, Allen County Community College’s volleyball team found a tough go on the road at El Dorado Monday.
The Red Devils lost in NJCAA Division II play 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 to Butler Community College Monday. That puts ACCC at 6-8 overall and 1-2 in conference and divisional play.
Allen County travels to Fort Scott Wednesday.
No statistics were available by press time on the Monday night match.
The Red Devils played Friday and Saturday in the Highland tournament.
Allen County lost to host Highland 25-23, 25-11, 25-19 Frida and  to Longview 25-18. 25-19, 25-19.
Coming back on court Saturday, the Red Devils battled to pick up a 25-13, 20-25, 25-13, 25-22 win over Ellsworth College (Iowa),
Nicole Rockhold had 20 of her 60 kills for the tournament in the Ellsworth match. She also had four service aces.
Allen County had six solo blocks and 10 assisted blocks recorded against Ellsworth.
“Our blocking was very solid in the match. We earned 11 points off blocks. This showed the potential we have when we work for it,” said Jessica Peters, ACCC head coach.
Allen County finished play in the tournament with a 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 loss to Kansas City, Kan., Community College.
Rockhold led the net game for ACCC in the tournament with 60 kills. She had one solo block and three assist blocks. She also had 72 digs and seven service aces.
Allison Jenicke had 22 kills, two solo blocks along with 38 digs.
Andrea Miller had three solo blocks and four assisted blocks along with 14 kills. Makhala Giardina had 18 kills, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
Erika Mack was credited with 65 set assists and Casey Droddy had 43 assists. Droddy had four service aces. Morgan Scott made 54 digs.
Leesha Plagens had two solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Plagens, Nicole Reed and Scott each had two ace serves.
