Red Devil softball team opens season

The Allen Community College softball team opened its season in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Cowtown Classic.
Despite ending their trip with an 8-7 eight-inning victory over North Central Texas College, the Red Devils finished with a 1-4 record in Fort Worth.
The Red Devils lost to Lamar State  College-Port Arthur 6-4 in their opener. They fell to Weatherford College, 11-3, and Galveston College 11-2, to finish up their Friday slate.
On Saturday, the Red Devils lost to Midland College 10-1 before picking up the win over North Central Texas.
Allen’s top hitter for the weekend was Winter Henry, who went 7-for-14 and scored four runs. Sierra Thompson had the team’s only home run.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Red Devil men’s basketball team lost at Barton Community College, 85-77, after a back-and-forth contest with 15 lead changes on Saturday.
Allen sophomore DaRon Mims was the game’s leading scorer with 28 points. Quentin Blaue was not far behind with 27 points on seven of nine shooting from three-point range.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Red Devil women’s basketball team fell to Barton 62-50 on Saturday on the road.
Freshman guard Kamri Summons led the Red Devils with 17 points. Damonica Franklin added 11 points and Tamera Shaver had nine.
