HESSTON — Allen County Community College’s soccer teams finished the 2010 season on good notes Thursday.
Unfortunately, the Red Devil squads missed the Region VI playoffs. For the ACCC men, it broke a four-year run in the playoffs.
The Red Devil men posted a 2-0 victory over host Hesston College in the season finale. Both goals came on free kicks — one by Christian Rodrigues and one by Roberto Rivera.
Zack Hanks made seven saves in goal for the Red Devils. The ACCC men finished 4-7-1 in Region VI play for ninth place, eight move into the playoffs, and 5-12-1 overall.
The ACCC women have had their ranks depleted by injuries. But they got the job done Thursday at Hesston.
The Red Devils got the hat trick — three goals — from Whitney Coblentz in a 5-0 victory. Crystal Jerome and Erika Williams each had a goal.
Coblentz, Williams, Jen Carlson and Ashely Wolf each had an assist on goals. Chelsea Reynolds had three saves in goal for ACCC.
The ACCC women finished at 4-9 in Region VI play for 10th and 5-12 overall.
