Allen County Community College’s men finished a three-game road run Monday with an 85-84 overtime win over Penn Valley Community College.
The Red Devils had gone 0-2 over the weekend at the Hutchinson Classic. Allen County concluded its non-conference slate at 6-6.
They open Jayhawk Eastern Division play at Kansas City, Kan., Community College on Jan. 4.
There was no information sent to the Register on the Penn Valley game or the Classic games. The Register did locate information on the Red Devils’ loss to 11th-ranked Hutchinson on Friday on the Hutchinson Community College website.
The Red Devils gave the 11th-ranked Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons a run for their money Friday.
The Blue Dragons had enough to take the lead late and pull away for a 77-64 win over the Red Devils to open the Hutchinson Classic. Allen County lost 73-70 to Kansas State-Salina on Saturday.
Allen County led 12-5 early in the game against Hutchinson.
The Red Devils shot 38 percent, 23 of 61, from the field and hit 14 of 26 free throw attempts. Hutchinson cashed in 24 of 41 free throw attempts while shooting 50 percent, 25 of 50 from the field.
Allen County held a 42 to 34 rebounding edge but turned it over 20 times to Hutchinson’s 14.
Terrell Shears posted a double-double for the Red Devils, scoring 14 points and clearing 13 rebounds. Canon Fields tossed in 15 points plus had five rebounds and six assists.
Mark Braden led the Dragons with 20 points and A.J. Spencer had 15 points. Alex Davis and Michael Spease each had 12 points.
