In their final road game of the regular season, the Allen men fought hard and came away with a 101-98 overtime win over Independence.

Despite leading by almost 25 at the half, the ACC men allowed the Pirates back in the second half to tie things up at 89. The Pirates scored 62 points in the second half.

In overtime, the Red Devils (15-14, 6-13) outscored Independence 12-9 to get the win.

Sophomore Perry Carroll turned in a 30-point performance followed by 25 and nine rebounds off the bench for freshman Tyus Jeffries.

Sophomore Darius Love had 17, freshman Malik Hardmon had 13 and sophomore Jamaal Clifton had 11.

Meanwhile, just before the Allen men’s big win, the Lady Devils (3-26, 1-18) lost 91-60.

Allen was down 11 after a quarter and 30 at the half and despite a much better second half, they didn’t come close to making it a game.

Sophomore Jakira Wilson and freshman Ariel Walker each scored in double-figures with 14 and 11 each but no one else was able to get over eight points.

Freshman Tunmi Amusa did have a huge rebounding night, grabbing 19 boards including 14 defensive rebounds.

The Red Devil men and women return home on Saturday when they host rival-Neosho County in the final tune-up game before the Region VI tournament.
