Red Devil golf team takes 14th at national

Allen County Community College’s golf team closed out the 2010 season playing in the NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament May 18-22. The tournament was at Palm Valley Golf Course at Good-year, Ariz.
The Red Devils finished in 14th place out of 21 teams. For the 72-hole tournament, Allen County had a team score of 1,244.
South Mountain Community College of Arizonia won the tournament with a 1,166 score.
Marcelo Rozo of John A. Logan Community College out of Illinois was the individual national champion. He shot a 284, one stroke ahead of Davis Garner, 285, of South Mountain.
Allen County’s top finish was by freshman Rob Carlson. Carlson tied for 49th overall. He shot a 305 for the 72 holes with rounds of 76, 80, 73 and 76.
Sophomore Nick Agnew was 74th with a 312. Agnew shot rounds of 78, 80, 75, 79.
Sophomore Bryant Welch tied for 75th with a 313. He had rounds of 78, 77, 81, 77.
Will Clark, a sophomore, tied for 77th. He carded rounds of 82, 76, 81 and 75.
The Red Devils are three-time Region VI, Division II champions.
