Recreation softball concludes

Baseball and softball season is officially over at the Iola Recreation Department. 

Thursday night was the final night of games, as Nelson Quarries defeated Allen County Regional Hospital 5-1.

Nelson Quarries pulled ahead to a 3-0 lead after one half-inning of play and never looked back. Zoie Hesse’s two-run home run helped Nelson Quarriers earn a two run lead, and Hallie Sutherland followed with a single to bring home Elza Clift. 

Jackie Fager started the second reaching on a walk, and Clift got an RBI of her own to bring home Fager. Nelson Quarries earned another run in the final inning to wrap up their fifth and final run. 

Clift led the way on the mound for Nelson Quarries with 14 strikeouts, allowing one hit to AC’s Alana Mader.
