Rain shortens golf tourney

MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats took fifth in a rain-shortened Uniontown High Invitational golf tournament Thursday.
The teams played just nine-holes at Sugar Valley Golf Course because of wet weather.
Caney Valley won the team title with a 157, led by top medalist Tyler Wyant with a 35. Joey Morrisey of Pleasanton was second with a 36 as the Blu-Jays finished in second place at 164.
Marmaton Valley’s Dalton Houk captured the eighth-place medal with a round of 41. Ben Smith carded a 49, followed by William Nunnery with a 52 and Cody Knight shooting a 60.
Chance Stevenson and Dillon Yeager of Marmaton Valley each posted a 62.
The host Eagles finished seventh with a team total of 221. Seth Sympson carded a 53 and Tyler Davidson shot a 55.
Chance Hoener ended up with a 56 and Cole George shot a 57. Zach Travis finished at 60 and Brenden Wood had a 64.
