HUMBOLDT — With a full moon staring down at the racers at Humboldt Speedway on Friday evening, 45 B-modifieds from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas competed in the Sooner Limited Modified Challenge sponsored by Smiley’s Racing Products.

By virtue of a heat race win, Cody Jolly, Jasper, Mo., started outside the pole and led every lap of the 20-lap A feature. Pole sitter Dakota Foster, Edgerton, won last Friday at Humboldt Speedway and tried to run down Jolly but had his hands full with ace Shane Collins, Thayer. Collins would slip by Foster for second. Rounding out the top five were Springfield’s JC Morton and Chanute’s Tyler James. Heat race wins went to Jolly, Foster, Tyler Kidwell, Joe Adams and Levi McGowen.

Home Savings NASCAR Factory Stocks saw full-bodied racing action with s shocker at the end of the nights A feature. Current points leader Jon Westhoff battled with Savonburg’s Ethan Lamons from the drop of the green. After taking the white flag, the two got tangled and opened the door for Humboldt’s Wayne Johnson who avoided the carnage on his way to the checkers. Derrek Wilson and Scott Collins completed the top three. Heat race wins went to Westhoff and Johnson.

In Tumbleweed Music Festival Street Stocks, Jay Lamons Jr. took advantage of his pole position starting spot and led every lap of the nights A feature. Nick Fritch, Humboldt, tried to chase down the leader but ran out of laps as Lamons crossed the line. Shane Cook, Scott Stuart and Scott Lucke rounded out the top five.

Trey Stipp, Humboldt, picked up his fifth A feature win of the year in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Sports Compacts. Stipp held off multi-feature winner Brandon Vink and Eric Ikehorn for the hard-fought win. Vink had picked up the heat race win earlier.

Also joining the evening’s competition was Midwest Modifieds which saw Brayton Skaggs from Ft. Scott pick up the win.

Racing returns to Humboldt Speedway on August 3rd as the traveling warriors of the USMTS presented by Casey’s General Stores hit the Speedway.

This marks the 13th Annual Summer Fling at the Bullring for the USMTS series. Drivers expected to take part are current points leader Johnny Scott, Rodney Sanders, Jake O’Neil, Stormy Scott and Zack Vanderbeek. Ray’s Metal Depot B Mods, Tumbleweed Music Festival Street Stocks and Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks are also scheduled to compete.
