HUMBOLDT — One man’s disaster was another man’s victory.
That held true at Humboldt Speedway Friday night. Brian Bolin and Justin Folk each won heat races. Bolin went to the lead early and seemed to have victory in sight.
Justin Folk pushed Bolin the whole way while trying to hold off his brother, Jesse Folk Jr. The Folk brothers made contact on the final lap in turn three.
Justin Folk went into the wall. John Allen, who was running fourth, was able to cruise through it all and claim the victory. Bolin was able to finish second with Jesse Folk Jr. settling for third.
Ryan Whitworth finished fourth and Travis Smith was fifth. Justin Folk ended up 15th.
Tim VanGotten earned the pole position in the B-Mod feature race. VanGotten pocketed the B-Mod win with Dalton Kirk running second. Jay Lamons Jr. placed third followed by Ron Bolin and Jerry Kustanborter for the top five.
With a field of 17 cars, the factory stock division has proven to be competitive this season. Tyler James nailed down another feature win with John Rosson challenging him all the way.
Brandon Weide ran third with Colton Bunn in a close fourth. Scott Lucke rounded out the top five in the class.
Brandon Rowland claimed his first-ever pure stock feature win. He made his move to the lead in lap four. Jeremy Willard came from the 10th-place starting spot to take second.
Tony Morris was third followed by Eddie Coulter and Laura Ramey.
The vintage cars were on hand to race at the Speedway’s reunion night. In front of some of the race track’s former drivers, Zack Simmons won the vintage car feature race. Jack Simmons was second followed by Lewis Jackson, Joe Martin and Marvin Allen.
There were 28 “oldies” that showed up for the second annual reunion.
Those attending were: Wendell Allen, Larry Ballou, Raymond Barnett, Bertie and Gary Chambers, Jerry Cline, Ira Collins, David Cramer, Joe and Leo Folk, Bob Gaulding, Craig Hatch, Bill Hillbrant, Dave and Paul Holman, Ron Honn, Al Jesseph, Vella and Gary Lower, Butch Lytle, Buddy Meadows, Bruce Michael, Ron Murcko, Ron Simmons, Corky VanGotten, Mike Weilert, Richard Weilert, Robert Wille and John Womack.
