Humboldt competed at the 2A Powerlifting State Championship in Conway Spring on Saturday and the Cub boys narrowly missed out on the top spot. 

Humboldt’s boys took second overall with 66 points, just a point behind first-place Conway Springs. 

The Lady Cubs took sixth as a group led by Humboldt’s lone individual state champion, Winter Snyder, who took first in the 156-pound division including finishing first in the squat. 

Drake Hottenstein (114 pounds), Isiah Coronado (148), Conor Haviland (172), Dagen Goodner (198) and Tucker Hurst (220) all finished second for the Humboldt boys while Briar Orth (140) and Xavier Bauer (198)  finished third along with Emma Johnson (132).

Hottenstein took first in the clean while both Hurst and Bauer finished first in the squat.
