Prep postseason assignments set – Area schools hosting regional events

Postseason for area high school spring sports begins Thursday with Kansas Class 4A Boys’ Tennis Regional Tournament action.
High school golf teams have their regional tournaments on May 16. That is also the week of baseball and softball regional tournaments. Track regionals are set for May 20.
Five area schools are hosting regional events. Yates Center High will host the Kansas Sand Greens State Golf Tournament May 23 at Lakeside Golf Course.
Iola High’s Mustangs go to Independence for the tennis regional Thursday, which concludes Friday. The top six singles players and top six doubles teams from the four regionals tournaments qualify for the 4A state tournament.
The Class 4A state tennis tournament is May 13-14 at Lindsborg.
Teams in the 4A regional along with Iola and Independence are Labette County, Chanute, Coffeyville, Columbus, Fort Scott, Paola, Parsons and Winfield.
Yates Center High will host a Class 2-1A baseball regional May 16-18. It also is holding a Class 2A regional track meet May 20.
Marmaton Valley High and Humboldt High are hosting Class 2-1A softball regionals May 16-17. Yates Center, which is the defending regional champion, will play at Humboldt.
Uniontown High is hosting a Class 3A golf regional May 16 at its home course, which is Sugar Valley Golf Course in Mound City.
Southern Coffey County High will be the host school for a Class 1A regional track meet May 20. It will be on Burlington High School’s track.
Iola High’s golf team will be at Chanute’s Quarry Stone Country Club in a Kansas Class 4A regional May 16. The Fillies’ softball team is in the 4A regional hosted by Osawatomie and the Mustang baseball team is at the 4A regional at Spring Hill, both are May 16-17.
Iola High’s track teams travel to Ottawa for the Class 4A regional May 20.

Golf (May 16)
Class 4A at Chanute — Iola, Anderson County, Girard, Prairie View, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Parsons, Chanute, Columbus, Fort Scott. Tee off at 9:30 a.m. at Quarry Stone Country Club. Class 4A state tournament May 23 at Prairie Dunes Country Club, Hutchinson.
Class 3A at Mound City — host Uniontown, Caney Valley, Erie, Fredonia, Frontenac, Galena, Neodesha, Riverton. Tee off at 8:30 a.m. at Sugar Valley Golf Course. Class 3A state tournament May 23 at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
Class 2A at Pittsburg — host Pittsburg-St Mary’s Colgan, Marmaton Valley, Northern Heights, Immaculata, Lyndon, Jayhawk-Linn, Oswego, Sedan, Maranatha Academy. Tee off at 10 a.m. at Crestwood Country Club. Class 2A state tournament May 23 at Buffalo Dunes, Garden City.
Sand Greens at Leonardville — host Riley County, Yates Center, St. John’s-Beloit, Glasco, Rock Hills, Miltonvale, Pike Valley. Tee off at 10 a.m. at Leonardville Golf Course. Sand Greens state  May 23 at Lakeside Golf Course, Yates Center.
Baseball (May 16-18)
Seedings and pairings to be determined.
Class 4A at Spring Hill — Iola, Fort Scott, Anderson County, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Paola, Spring Hill. Games to be played at Spring Hill High School.
Class 3A at Burlington — Uniontown, Burlington, Council Grove, Osage City, West Franklin, Central Heights. Games to be played at Burlington High School.
Class 2-1A at Yates Center — Humboldt, Yates Center, Altoona-Midway, West Elk, Elk Valley, Sedan. Games to be played at Yates Center’s Kluender Field.
Class 2-1A at Pittsburg — host Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan, Marmaton Valley, Chetopa, Jayhawk-Linn, Oswego, St. Paul. Games to be played at JayCee Ballpark in Pittsburg.
State tournaments (May 27-28): Class 4A-Dean Evans Stadium, Salina; Class 3A-Tointon Family Stadium, Kansas State University, Manhattan; Class 2-1A-Sodens Grove Baseball Field, Emporia.
Softball (May 16-18)
Seedings and pairings to be determined.
Class 4A at Osawatomie — Iola, Fort Scott, Anderson County, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Paola. Games to be played at Karl E. Cole Complex in Osawatomie.
Class 3A at Frontenac — Uniontown, Northeast-Arma, Southeast-Cherokee, Erie, Frontenac, Galena, Riverton. Games to be played at Frontenac Sports Complex.
Class 2-1A at Humboldt — Humboldt, Yates Center, Altoona-Midway, West Elk, Elk Valley. Games to be played at Humboldt’s Manion Field in Sweatt Park.
Class 2-1A at Moran — Marmaton Valley, Chetopa, Jayhawk-Linn, Oswego, Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan, St. Paul. Games to be played at Moran City Park.
State tournaments (May 27-28): Class 4A-Bill Burke Complex, Salina; Class 3A-Twin Oaks Complex, Manhattan; Class 2-1A-Trusler Sports Complex, Emporia.
Track (May 20)
Class 4A at Ottawa — Iola, Labette County, Baxter Springs, Chanute, Coffeyville, Columbus, Fort Scott, Anderson County, Girard, Independence, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Paola, Parsons. Field events- 3:30 p.m., running event prelims-5 p.m., running event finals-30 minutes after conclusion of prelims. Meet at Ottawa High School.
Class 3A at Douglass — Uniontown, Northeast-Arma, Belle Plaine, Burlington, Caney Valley, Southeast-Cherokee, Cherryvale, Douglass, Erie, Eureka, Fredonia, Frontenac, Galena, Leon-Bluestem, Neodesha, Riverton. Field events-3:30 p.m., running event prelims-4:30 p.m., running event finals-6 p.m. at Douglass High School.
Class 2A at Yates Center — Yates Center, Humboldt, Marmaton Valley, Northern Heights, Central-Burden, Chase County, Berean Academy, Herington, West Elk, Lyndon, Jayhawk-Linn, Oswego, Oxford, Peabody-Burns, Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan. Field events-3:45 p.m., running event prelims-4:45 p.m., running event finals-30 minutes after conclusion of prelims. Meet is at Woodson USD 366 Sports Complex.
Class 1A at Burlington — host Southern Coffey County, Crest, Altoona-Midway, Burrton, Cedar Vale, Chetopa, Dexter, Goessel, Hamilton, Hartford, Central Christian-Hutchinson, Lebo, Elk Valley, Centre, Madison, Marais Des Cygnes Valley, Kansas School for the Deaf, Olpe, Pleasanton, Flinthills, South Haven, St. Paul, Udall, Waverly. Field events-3 p.m., running event prelims-4 p.m., running event finals-6 p.m. or 20 minutes after conclusion of prelims, whichever is earliest. Meet is at Burlington High School.
State meet (May 27-28): All classes, Cessna Stadium, Wichita State University, Wichita.
