INDEPENDENCE — Iola Middle School’s golf team continues to pile up tournament titles this spring.
The Ponies won by 31 strokes Monday at the Independence Middle School tournament. Iola shot a 165 team score on the Sy-camore Valley Golf Course.
Coffeyville was second at 196 and Pittsburg took third with a 213.
Iola took seven of the top eight individual medals. Kaden Macha led the way with a 38 for the nine-hole event.
Matt Jacobs and Adam Peterson were second and third, both with 42s. Nick Becker of Coffeyville shot a 43 as did Shane Walden of Iola but Becker took fourth.
Isaiah Grover shot a 45 for sixth and Drake Dieker carded a 46 to place seventh. Also playing for Iola was Josh Elder, who shot a 53.
Iola goes to Coffeyville Wednesday.
