Iola Middle School’s Braden Plumlee broke the school’s seventh grade boys record in the 800-meter run a week ago. The IMS track teams concluded its 2012 season at the Parsons Middle School Invitational, a meet that was cut short by severe weather on April 30.
Plumlee won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 22.27 seconds with teammate Chase Regehr in second at 2:27.72. Plumlee, who set a new IMS seventh-grade boys’ record in the 1600 meters at the IMS Invitational, also won the 1600-meter run at Parsons in 5:28.30.
Iola’s seventh-grade boys finished second with 81 points to Parsons’ 93.5 points. The IMS eighth-grade girls were third with 77 points and Chanute was first with 80 points. Iola’s eighth-grade boys were fourth with 57 points and Pittsburg was first with 107.67 points. The IMS seventh-grade girls scored eight points finishing 10th and Pittsburg won the division with 98.5 points.
